FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris said linebacker DeAngelo Malone is going to injured reserve with an ankle injury that he sustained in the team's overtime loss to the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday in Berlin, Germany.

"(Malone) is going to miss time, had a big-time injury," Morris said Wednesday. "He'll be going to IR. That was the big one."

It was reported by local media that Malone broke his ankle and underwent surgery.

Malone has been a core special team contributor in Atlanta since being drafted by the organization four seasons ago. This year, he also cross-trained at both inside and outside linebacker in Jeff Ulbrich's scheme.
