The Boston Red Sox have a lot of work to do this offseason after finding their way to the postseason in 2025. Perhaps their most important decision involves the future of All-Star third baseman Alex Bregman , who opted out of his contract to test the waters of free agency for the second straight offseason.
Bregman signed a three-year, $120 million contract with Boston last year, and he ended up hitting .273 with 18 home runs and 62 RBIs in 114 games. With the potential to earn more money on the table, Bregman decided to opt out and seek a bigger deal in free agency.
