NEW ORLEANS — As the , Governor Jeff Landry says Louisiana took care of its most vulnerable populations while SNAP benefits halted.

"Now that the government is opened, everybody is going to get filled," Landry said during a "All of the food stamp cards are going to be filled for the month of November."

Landry said going into Thanksgiving, seniors and disabled residents may see a little extra this year.

"What extra means is that we're working to find out how we load them. They may end up with 25% more than they got in the first month," he said. The governor emphasized it would be a one-time adjustment due to the shutdown, and he is working with the legislature and the Louisiana Department of Health.
