Staff at Glasgow's Village Hotel and Starbucks have 'voted overwhelmingly' to take strike action over the festive season.
The Village Hotel has an on-site Starbucks, meaning the action will result in the first British Starbucks strike. Hospitality workers are due to strike from November 28 until January 2, covering the chain's most lucrative period.
It comes after staff at the Village Hotel in Festival Park, Pacific Drive, balloted on industrial action to resolve ongoing concerns about fairness and equality in the workplace. Unite the Union have previous accused hotel management of failing to pay the Real Living Wage to all its employees, with workers under the age of 21 paid less than their colleagues for doing the same job.
