Downriver firefighters and police officer from dozens of agencies helped 87 people evacuate during a large fire at Southgate American House on Friday, Oct. 24.
The agencies gathered at the Riverview American House to be honored and thanked by employees and residents.
Residents got to see each other for one of the first times since the fire took their homes.
Residents lost everything from clothes and cell phones to dentures and hearing aids.
It was a much different scene at a senior living home on Wednesday, Nov. 12, than on Oct. 24, when Downriver first responders battled a large fire that left Southgate American House in ruins and all 81 safely evacuated residents without a home.
