MINOT — The kerfuffle over the city of Fargo's decision to shut down broadcasts of the portions of city meetings dedicated to public comment just went from risible to flat-out stupid.

For those of you catching up, Fargo, like many local governments around the state, broadcasts its meetings through various media, including online. These meetings include times when the public can rise and speak. Recently, city leadership made the abrupt decision to stop broadcasting those portions of the meetings. The public comment would still take place, but only people in the room would be able to see it.
