MARTIN COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - One Lexington woman was arrested after KSP said she used her daughter as a means to help with smuggling drugs to an inmate while at the federal prison in Martin County.
The incident happened in April, but Shakaree Carter was taken into custody on an indictment warrant on Nov. 10.
Troopers were dispatched to 1197 Airport Road in Inez about a complaint regarding the promotion of contraband.
Officials said Carter had went into the prison to visit with an inmate, saying that she had been acting suspiciously during the visit.
Police said Carter along with her 10-year-old daughter went into a restroom, along with the inmate.
