The University of Minnesota is blasting a proposed deal between Fairview and M Physicians, calling it a "hostile takeover" of the institution's medical school.
The Board of Regents called a special meeting Thursday morning to address the issue, and to vote on a resolution that would censure M Physicians, accusing its leadership of exceeding its authority and violating its obligations in striking the deal.
The resolution would also "evaluate the implications and remedies arising from the conflicting loyalties and fiduciary duties created by the actions of M Physicians management, and, if so, take the necessary steps to mitigate those conflicts."
