NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Nashville’s rich baseball history is being celebrated in a vibrant way.
Belmont University art students, Metro Arts and members of the Edgehill community unveiled a new mural Thursday morning honoring the legacy of the Negro Baseball League.
The mural, located at E.S. Rose Park, is already stopping people in their tracks.
Designed by Belmont art student Joanna Wu in collaboration with Edgehill neighbors, the artwork highlights the community’s deep roots and historic significance.
At the center of the piece is a portrait of Norman “Turkey” Stearnes, one of Nashville’s greatest Negro League players, standing beside a young boy.
Wu said she wanted children at the park to see themselves in that boy and to remind them that anything is possible.
