GOUVERNEUR, New York (WWNY) - Two St. Lawrence County residents face charges after one of them was allegedly caught red-handed during a burglary in Gouverneur.

According to state police, a homeowner on Averell Street confronted an intruder in his garage at 12:30 a.m. on Monday.

When troopers arrived, they said the 18-year-old suspect gave them a false name.

He was taken into custody.

Police later learned his true identity. Although troopers didn’t release his name, they said he’s from Ogdensburg.

He was charged with second-degree burglary and false personation.

Troopers said they also learned the teen was driven to the garage to burglarize it.

They charged 27-year-old Lindsay Shattuck of Gouverneur with criminal facilitation.
