BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Major upgrades are underway at the historic Hotel Lincoln.

The Baton Rouge landmark, which has been abandoned for years, is being renovated to provide affordable housing.

Kelly LeDuff, the mayor’s Director of Community Development, said the building will have 12 units with three commercial retail/office spaces.

“We are extremely excited for this project and what it does to extend downtown. Every time we create affordable housing, we create hope and opportunity,” LeDuff said.

Construction on the project started in October. It is scheduled to be completed by November 2026.

The $1.1 million renovation project was first announced in December 2024 under the Sharon Weston Broome administration. Current Mayor Sid Edwards has made blight one of his major initiatives.
