Syracuse, N.Y. -- Syracuse football will not hold a jersey retirement for Art Monk during halftime of its final game of the season, pushing back the celebration to 2026 instead.
Syracuse announced the change on Thursday, citing an “unforeseen scheduling conflict.”
The school had announced in July that it planned to honor Monk during the final game of the regular-season on Nov. 29. Syracuse will face Boston College in a game likely to determine the last-place team in the ACC.
“It’s important that we celebrate Art Monk in the way he deserves and that he is able to be present for,” Syracuse athletic director John Wildhack said in a statement from the school. “We look forward to seeing him return to campus in 2026 to see his jersey take its rightful place in the JMA Wireless Dome.”
