An officer-involved shooting on Wednesday night in Decatur is now under investigation by the Morgan County Sheriff's Office.
Per Decatur Police chief Torry Mack, the incident took place when an officer with the department attempted to make a traffic stop at approximately 8:25 p.m. in the area of 11th Avenue SW and 2nd Street. The driver eventually stepped out of the vehicle during the stop and was observed with a gun by the DPD officer, leading to the shooting.
The offender was transported to the hospital for medical care and is expected to recover.
