SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) – A train operator in San Francisco was placed on “non-driving status” after she appeared to fall asleep behind the controls.

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) responded to the shocking video seen across the country.

“Any unsafe incident is one too many,” Director of Transportation Julie Kirschbaum said.

Many of the train’s passengers are speaking out after the driver appeared to fall asleep at the wheel.

“It was scary. I mean, people around me were screaming,” Estefani Aguilar said.

The video, released after a public records request, shows the operator with her head down at a stop as riders board.

Moments later, the woman sits back up as the train heads through the sunset tunnel.
