The Anchorage Fire Department is asking residents to help shape the city’s approach to wildfire safety by completing an online survey .

The department has already drafted a “Community Wildfire Protection Plan”, and at a town hall on Wednesday night, fire officials encouraged residents to review the plan and provide feedback.

"We have a lot of good material on there that can help you prepare your home for a wildland fire in the wintertime, and really help us be set and ready as we go into the spring season," said Don Glover of the Anchorage Fire Department.

The survey is open through the end of the month, giving residents the opportunity to weigh in on strategies to protect homes, neighborhoods, and natural areas from wildfire risk.
