BROOKINGS, Ore. - Emergency responders carried out a challenging rescue on Tuesday, when a man was found injured below a steep embankment.
According to the Brookings Police Department, a citizen on Nov. 11 reported hearing someone yelling for help near the 8-mile marker on USFS 1107 Road. A Curry County sheriff’s deputy heard cries for help and, upon dispatch of the Curry County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue team, they discovered the victim, a 45-year-old Reedsport man, at the bottom of the embankment, suffering from a broken leg and hypothermia. Rescue efforts involved a coordinated rope team descent by SAR member Andy Stubbs to reach the victim.
