The New England Patriots did some roster maneuvering on Thursday.
New England elevated running back D’Ernest Johnson and linebacker Darius Harris from the practice squad just hours prior to its matchup with the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football.
Johnson and Harris, of course, were the same two players that were elevated prior to Sunday’s victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Johnson will serve as an emergency option behind TreVeyon Henderson and Terrell Jennings, while Harris primarily plays on special teams.
The Patriots need the help, as they’ll be without several key players after ruling running back Rhamondre Stevenson (toe), wide receiver Kayshon Boutte (hamstring), tight end Austin Hooper (concussion) and linebacker Christian Elliss (hip) out on Wednesday.
