After an exhausting week of rebuttals and ambivalence, the Department of Social Services announced Nov. 11 it would resume food assistance benefits through SNAP (the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), but not yet in full.
Now that President Trump signed a funding bill Nov. 12 to reopen the government , the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture assured benefits will return but that the timeline of re-issued benefits will “vary by state” and is dependent on when the funding package is officially “signed into law.”
Officials say while some states will see full benefits come within days, others might take weeks.
