Reality TV star accused of killing woman’s dog in Dare County

DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A Wanchese reality TV star accused of fatally shooting a woman’s dog has been charged with animal cruelty.

Dare County deputies were called around 6:00 p.m. Saturday to a missing animal report.

After an investigation, deputies say 57-year-old Britton Shackelford shot and killed a woman’s dog.

Shackelford was one of the main characters in the 2014 TV show series “Wicked Tuna: North vs. South,’ captaining the Doghouse charter boat.

He was charged with cruelty to animals and discharging a firearm within 300 yards of an occupied dwelling.

Shackelford has since been released on a $7,000 secured bond.
