Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott has announced the arrest of 17-year-old Jordan Lemmon in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in northeast Columbia on Nov. 11.
According to the Richland County Sheriff's Department (RCSD), deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the 1700 block of Nearview Avenue on Nov. 11, at approximately 7 p.m.
Upon their arrival, deputies found an unresponsive victim in in front of a home. The victim, who was later identified as 18-year-old Dion Briggs of Columbia, had been shot in the upper body and died at scene.
An investigation into the incident revealed that Briggs was trying to purchase a gun from Lemmon, according to a RCSD release. During the transaction Lemmon shot and killed Briggs, then left the scene before deputies arrived.
