The Alberta government says it expects to know soon if its negotiations with Ottawa towards an overhaul of environmental laws and establishment of a new pipeline project have produced results after the province was excluded from the latest list of projects named for federal fast-tracking.
Speaking in Terrace, B.C., Prime Minister Mark Carney named seven more projects to be referred to his government’s major projects office, though none were based in Alberta.
He and Premier Danielle Smith had spoken of reaching a deal to expand Alberta’s energy industry by Sunday’s Grey Cup game, but indicated on Thursday that more time was needed.
