Meghalaya Police on Thursday intercepted a vehicle belonging to Congress MP Rakibul Hussain near the Assam-Meghalaya border. The car, which was being driven by Hussain’s son, was found to be using a red VIP beacon despite the MP’s absence.
Kaushik Rai, Minister of Food, Public Distribution & Consumer Affairs Department of Assam, criticised the Congress party for the alleged misuse of VIP privileges even by those outside power.
Posting on X, Kaushik Rai said, “This is the VIP culture perpetrated by @INCAssam – even though they out of power !”
Criticising the misuse of the VIP beacon, he said that MP Md. Rakibul Hussain’s son was using the VIP beacon in the absence of his father.
