We have some more news for Shōgun season 2, and it appears that John Blackthorne (Cosmo Jarvis) will be back, and his last 10 years revealed, though book readers already knew that. Shōgun season 2 will begin production in January 2026, and Hiroyuki Sanada and Cosmo Jarvis will return as Lord Yoshii Toranaga and John Blackthorne.

The first season of FX's Shōgun premiered in February 2024 and is based on James Clavell's 1975 novel of the same name, which is itself based on real historical people and events. Names are changed in the book and series, but events closely follow history, so we can confirm the fate of a character like Blackthorne.
