A house fire that killed two people and a dog in an Adams County neighborhood on Sunday was started by a fire pit on the back deck, fire officials said.

Adams County Fire Rescue crews were called to the 800 block of Bronco Road just before 1:50 a.m. Sunday and found the home fully engulfed in flames.

Investigators found that the fire started on a wooden deck at the back of the home and sparked because a fire pit was put on a combustible surface, fire officials said Thursday.

The two people killed in the fire will be identified by the Adams County Coroners Office.
