PORTLAND, Ore. — Over 100 U.S. lawmakers are throwing their support behind unionized Starbucks workers going on a multi-state strike Thursday.

Thursday morning, Oregon's Sens. Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden joined their 24 of their colleagues in a letter to the company's CEO Brian Niccol demanding that Starbucks "reverse course from its current posture, resolve its existing labor disputes, and bargain a fair contract in good faith with these employees."

Washington's Sen. Patty Murray sent her own letter to the company independently earlier in the week. Eighty two U.S. Representatives led by the House Labor Caucus also wrote in with their support.
