Woodstock Middle School was on lockdown for nearly two hours after a bullet was found on school grounds Thursday, school officials said. All after school activities were also canceled.

In an email to families, Woodstock Superintendent Christopher Roche said a bullet was discovered on school property around 1 p.m.

The school immediately went into lockdown and after an extensive investigation, authorities identified the student responsible for bringing the bullet to school.

Students were dismissed around 2:40 p.m., but bus dismissals were delayed due to the timing of the investigation.

"Please know that the safety and security of our students and staff remain our foremost priority," Roche said.
