CLEVELAND, Ohio — A 9-year-old boy denied attempted murder and rape charges Thursday in connection with the September attack on a 5-year-old autistic girl in Cleveland.

Another child accused in the attack, a 10-year-old girl , denied the same charges last week in Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court.

Judge Kristin Sweeney ordered both of the accused children placed on home detention with electronic monitoring. She said Thursday that she will ask the county’s Division of Children and Family Services to investigate the matter.

“And that’s all I’m going to say about that,” she added.

The children, among the youngest charged with violent crimes in Ohio this year, also face felonious assault, kidnapping and strangulation charges in the Sept. 13 attack in a field behind the Collinwood Athletic
