BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Louisiana SNAP benefits will be filled for November now that the federal government is open, Governor Jeff Landry announced.
Gov. Landry announced during an interview with New Orleans radio station WBOK.
The governor said some seniors and those who are disabled may see a little extra this month. He is calling it a one-time adjustment due to the shutdown, meaning some people may have more money on their card.
State funding used during shutdown
The announcement comes after the Louisiana Department of Health used state money to supply SNAP benefits for the elderly, disabled, and children.
More than 800,000 people in Louisiana are on SNAP.
Landry also said in the interview that the U.S. Department of Agriculture is set to start sending money to the state. That m
