1Second suspect charged in deadly 2023 DC shooting that left man dead in broad daylight

Washington, DC – A second person has been charged in connection to the fatal shooting of a 46-year-old man in Northwest DC more than two years after the daylight attack stunned the community and launched a homicide investigation.

The case dates back to Sunday, July 30, 2023, when officers responded to a reported shooting around 2:43 p.m. in the city’s Fourth District. There, they found Donald B. Childs suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite emergency crews rushing him to a nearby hospital, he did not survive.

Childs, a Northwest DC resident, was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.
