Baltimore police carried out a pre-dawn raid Wednesday tied to the city’s investigation into a string of overdoses in the Penn North neighborhood, arresting a 62-year-old man and charging him and two others in what investigators described as a large-scale heroin and fentanyl operation.

According to charging documents filed in the District Court of Maryland, officers with the Baltimore Police Group Violence Unit, working with federal agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, searched a home in the 4900 block of Chalgrove Avenue around 4 a.m. on Nov. 12.
