LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - The Estacado Matadors (7-3), who became one of Lubbock’s most-exciting teams of the year, will try to extend their season Friday night against the Fort Stockton Panthers (6-4) at Andrews.
Fort Stockton head coach DJ Howell took over last April, replacing Jeremy Hickman who built a competitive program in Fort Stockton. Prior to that, he coached six-man in Miami, Texas. Estacado head coach Eric Ward expects the Panthers to bring that same kind of speed- commonly associated with six-man games.
“I expect some tempo stuff being thrown at us, but I also expect a lot of passing and some trick plays. I mean, it’s the playoffs,” he said. “You never know what’s going to actually happen, but you can always prepare. You prepare for everything.”
