HARRISBURG — The administration of Gov. Josh Shapiro on Thursday said it has resumed issuing federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefit payments for November that were disrupted during the federal government shutdown, and that they should be paid to all SNAP recipients by the end of the week.
The announcement came a day after action in Washington ended a six-week shutdown that was the longest in U.S. history. It put the SNAP program in the middle of a protracted inter-governmental legal fight.
“Benefits will be issued as quickly as possible,” the state Department of Human Services said in a statement. “DHS expects that all November SNAP benefits should be received by the weekend.”
