CINCINNATI (WXIX) -Cincinnati City Council unanimously approved a new curfew zone for the Short Vine area near the University of Cincinnati campus on Thursday, targeting young people who have been causing safety concerns in the business district.
The 9-0 vote establishes a curfew zone between Daniels and East Corry Street on Short Vine. Council members said businesses and customers in the area need the restrictions.
“At the end of the day we want young people to be safe and when you are in space where you should not be you should be home,” said Councilwoman Meeka Owens.

The city already has an 11 p.m. curfew for juveniles citywide, with hours reduced to 9 p.m. for a large portion of downtown. Short Vine will now see those same 9 p.m. restrictions.
