Re “Sun in summer nowadays is scary” (A9, Nov. 7): The Pilot ran a report on world leaders traveling to Brazil to update progress on climate change. Another meeting that will lead to little progress or change.

Carbon dioxide emissions last year were the highest on record. They are projected to keep rising. China is a significant force in the increases.

I find myself in alignment with Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates on this issue. He has come out and suggested we have the wrong focus. Climate change will not wipe out humanity. He suggests we focus on reducing poverty, learn to adapt to the changes and leveraging innovation. I agree, the climate has been changing for millions of years. It is going to keep changing.
