LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Fayette County Public Schools will no longer have a lobbying partner at the end of the calendar year.

WKYT has learned the lobbying contract between Fayette County Public Schools and the Piper Smith agency, will end on December 31.

The initial agreement was signed in 2023 and was to run through June 30th, 2026.

WKYT previously reported on a second contract with the firm, as part of a failed plot to raise the Occupational License Tax. The proposal for that scope of work, indicated that contract would end September 1st.

We have reached out to the district for further clarity on who initiated the termination and why. We’re still awaiting a response.
