BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Inspection reports obtained by the WAFB I-TEAM on Thursday indicate a third party inspected the Ferris wheel that dumped passengers out of a bucket during the Harvest Festival this month.

State Fire Marshal Brian Adams said he is demanding a change.

“It’s not safe,” Adams said. “We will work on changing the law in January.”

Adams said the current law allows third parties to inspect amusement rides, which takes his office out of the process.

Two girls were injured after the bucket they were in on the Expo Wheel dumped them out on November 2nd. They are both recovering.

Inspection reports noted the Ferris wheel was inspected on October 24, just days before the accident. Records show that the inspector noted there was no problem at the time of inspection.
