Several coloured educational sand products have been recalled after traces of asbestos were found in them.

The sand is sold at dozens of stores across Australia, including Woolworths and Officeworks, which have removed the products from their shelves.

As retailers work to remove the product, parents are being urged to dispose of any they have at home.

The sand is brightly coloured and designed for play and educational purposes.
