SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio (WOIO) - Two space heater fires in one week have prompted South Euclid fire officials to issue safety warnings.
A family on Liberty Road was forced to board up a window after a space heater caused a fire last week.
“There was a small fire that was easily extinguished,” said Fire Marshall Scott Sebastian. “But it does put that family in a burden of having a room that has fire damage, which might keep them out of their homes for 1-2 months.
The same week, fire crews responded to Wallingford Road for a similar incident.
“There was actual arc and a flame that came out of the electrical outlet that caught some bedroom furniture on fire,” said Sebastian.
Sebastian said fire crews respond to 8-10 space heater fires each year between late November and December.
