At least a couple of Utah ski areas have to push back their opening dates due lack of snow amid warm temperatures. But that could change in the next week.
OnTheSnow predicts 1 to 2 feet of the white stuff to fall in the West, including in some areas of the Beehive State.
Meteorologist Chris Tomer is forecasting light snow accumulation on Friday, heavy snow Sunday through next Tuesday and moderate to heavy snow the following Thursday through Saturday.
Tomer sees Little and Big Cottonwood canyons — home to Alta, Snowbird, Brighton and Solitude — in the north getting 10 to 20 inches of snow. In the south, he’s predicting 12 to 18 inches at Brian Head.
Brian Head and Solitude aimed to be the first resorts in the state to open but both delayed those dates.
