Police and fire departments responded to a building on Penn State’s main campus on Nov. 12, after getting reports of a loud bang.
But the noise was not the result of an explosion, according to a statement from the university.
In a post to their website , the statement read that “the damage is the result of a localized structural issue” to the Susan Welch Liberal Arts Building.
“No foul play is suspected,” it said.
Construction on the Welch Building was completed in 2025 , marking the first time in 50 years a new liberal arts building was added to Penn State’s campus.
WTAJ reported that the bomb squad investigated the building early yesterday morning, after the loud noise was heard.
