Local nonprofits New Haven Reads and CFAL for Digital Inclusion hosted a community giving event on Thursday.

The community event, aimed at providing essential resources to families in need, saw a large collection of donated items, including gently used technology, books, toiletries and food.

Tesha Tramontano-Kelly, executive director of CFAL for Digital Inclusion, emphasized the importance of community support given the uncertainty surrounding SNAP benefits.

“It’s important to give back to people who may not have the same opportunities and are just struggling right now,” Tramontano-Kelly said.

The event encouraged residents to donate items they no longer use, with a particular focus on technology.
