A Sarnia city councillor says she’s been looking for votes to amend one of the cuts in the mayor’s 2026 draft budget.

“I’ve been talking to many of my colleagues on council and they are behind (making) this amendment,” she said.
Mayor Mike Bradley recently used strong mayor powers to reduce planned 2026 city spending, including $2 million earmarked for an estimated $$4.5-5.9-million expansion to Faethorne House in Bright’s Grove.
The 1875-built facility that a review recently found is structurally in good shape, Gillis said, is home to one of Lambton’s library branches and the volunteer-run Gallery in the Grove.
