A progressive analyst claimed during a podcast episode on Thursday that President Donald Trump is playing fans of the MAGA movement for "absolute fools" after his latest flip-flop.
On Wednesday, lawmakers released tens of thousands of new documents from disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein's case file. Some of the documents alleged new ties between the men, such as Trump spending hours at Epstein's home with one of his victims before Trump ran for office. None of the documents suggests any wrongdoing by Trump.
However, there was a time when Trump described Epstein and his infamous island in starkly unfavorable terms, according to progressive YouTuber Brian Tyler Cohen. Cohen played a clip on his latest podcast episode of an interview Trump gave to Bloomberg, where he described Epstein's infamous island as a "cesspool."
"Clearly, he knows what's right here, which makes the fact that he is engaging in a massive cover-up all the more damning," Cohen said. "He is playing his supporters for absolute fools."
Cohen also claimed that Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) appears to be helping Trump in his efforts.
"Mike Johnson's doing the same, and they're trying to get the rest of the GOP on board because they despise their base and think that they can lie to them with absolute impunity," Cohen said. "The coming days are going to determine which side these Republican lawmakers are on, Trump's side or the side of the rest of America, the side of decency, and the side that thinks pedophile rings are bad."
