CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Three men who entered the United States illegally were sentenced to prison for trafficking kilogram quantities of fentanyl, according to Russ Ferguson, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina.

According to court documents, from August 2024 to September 2024, Javier Avila-Rivas, Christian Josue Campos and Jefry Adalberto Martinez-Romero, all from Honduras, conspired to distribute kilogram quantities of fentanyl and cocaine in and around Charlotte.

During the investigation, the trio sold fentanyl to undercover law enforcement on numerous occasions.

On Sept. 5, 2024, after an undercover drug buy, law enforcement found Avila and Martinez in a vehicle. Law enforcement searched the vehicle, seizing a total of more than 9 kilograms of fentanyl, including 786
