KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The United States Government is officially back open after the longest shutdown in history. The House of Representatives voted to approve the funding bill put together by the Senate, and President Trump signed off on it.

However, one provision added to the bill is causing frustration for some House members.

Tennessee Representative John Rose said the Senate added what he said was a slipped-in provision.

"We learned at the eleventh hour, that the Senate had snuck in a kind of back room deal that was going to allow at least eight United States senators to sue the federal government — and perhaps — pocket millions of dollars," Rose said.
