People across the country will be watching Anchorage closely this April, as the city prepares for its municipal elections.

For the first time, all eligible voters in Anchorage will have the option to vote online using a phone or other device. While the city and Juneau have tested internet voting in the past, this election marks the first widespread use of the system.

Anchorage's election administrator told the New York Times that Anchorage is experimenting with internet voting because of a high transient population.

In-person voting will still be in effect in April's election

Traditional mail-in and in-person voting will still be available during the April election.
