At least half a dozen major media companies have stared down legal threats from President Trump this year. Some have chosen to fight, others have opted to fold. The BBC is signaling that it will fight.
On Thursday, the British national broadcaster responded to a demand letter from Trump’s lawyers by apologizing for an editing error but arguing that the president doesn’t have a serious case.
The public response indicated that if Trump goes ahead and sues, the BBC will vigorously defend itself, rather than immediately seek to settle the matter out of court.
