A Greater Manchester A&E department has warned it was 'extremely busy' on Thursday (November 13) as it urged people in non-life threatening conditions to consider other alternatives.

The Bolton NHS Foundation Trust posted a statement saying its emergency department was experiencing 'extremely high levels of activity', adding that the most seriously ill and injured patients would 'always be seen immediately'.

According to the Trust's website on Thursday evening, wait times at the emergency apartment at Royal Bolton Hospital were predicted to be four hours or higher.
