When “Outlander: Blood of My Blood” stars Harriet Slater and Jaime Roy first read together, the chemistry was so strong, it could be felt a country away. The actors met just a few minutes before reading together for producers, including showrunner Matthew B. Roberts, who were watching on Zoom from the United States.
Roy had already been cast as Brian Fraser in Starz’s epic prequel series, and the search was on for his romantic love interest, Ellen MacKenzie. The pair are the parents of Jamie Fraser, the character played by Sam Heughan in the original “Outlander” series. Roy recalls meeting Slater “on a cold, rainy day in Scotland” that happened to be a bank holiday. “So there was nobody in the studio,” he revealed. “It was just me and a camera guy and then someone to fix the lights.”
