New York Post writer Larry Brooks, a recipient of the Hockey Hall of Fame Elmer Ferguson Memorial Award, has died following a battle with cancer. He was 75 years old.
The Post announced the news in a story Thursday morning.
Brooks spent 38 years at the New York Post across two separate tenures.
According to The Athletic, he began writing for the New York Post in 1976, before covering the New York Rangers beginning in 1978.
While most of his time was spent reporting on the Rangers, he also covered the Islanders, Devils, the entire NHL, the Yankees and other sporting events in New York, according to The Athletic .
